With the change in weather, our body becomes prone to diseases.  Specifically in summers our body requires very protection from inside and care from outside. Therefore it is necessary to make healthy changes in our diet and lifestyle during summers.

  • Take 5-6 meals

Increase number of meals in a day and reduce the portion of food you take. Eating in regular interval but eating less every time benefits your health and keep you active throughout the day.

  • Consume Fruits

Take more of fruits in your diet, start your day with fruits and try to take just fruits for breakfast.  Take watermelon, pears, apples, plums, bananas and pineapple.

  • Prefer Light Lunch

Prefer taking light lunch, prepare a bowl of mixed fruits, some spices to taste and little olive oil.  Try some variations with fruits and spices and you may come up with various dishes for menu.

  • Refreshing Post Meal

Post meal you can have a slice of cheese, yogurt, buttermilk or light salad with few drops of fresh lime juice. You can also go for coconut water or lemon juice.

  • Evening Meal

Try having light meals for evening too. You can have anything which is baked in oven, and add little olive oil, spices to taste and tomatoes, garlic etc. Make sure that you go to bed at least after 2 hours of meal.

  • Follow Diet Rules

Avoid water in between meal and try to drink water sometime after taking meal. Make changes to you diet and meals to make it tasty and delightful as per you lifestyle and eating habits.

  • Increase Water Intake

Best way to stay healthy in summers is to stay hydrated, take as much of water as possible, as the heat absorbs water from your body makes you dehydrated.  Drink water even if you are not thirsty.  

Try to avoid drinks which dehydrates body, caffeinated, carbonated or high in sugar level. Avoid alcohol, coffee tea, soda (fizzy) drinks as far as possible. If you trying to cool yourself down take cold liquids but not chilled liquids as chilled liquids also dehydrates your body from inside.

Yogurt- add calcium and protein to your diet by taking low fat dairy products, they keep you cool and help you fight the heat.

Hot and spicy food- avoid hot and spicy food for summers, add fruits and vegetables as far as possible, they provide all the nutrition and vitamins our body requires.    

Fried food – try to avoid fried food, fast food and cut down the use of oil in food.

Hygiene – maintain your hygiene with cloths and even food items you take.

Yoga and Exercise – schedule all arduous activities for early morning and late evening this will help not feel worn out & exhausted the whole day.
